Corrections Nunavut Corrections is to provide corrections system that promotes healing, and provides appropriate security and management.

The Department of Justice provides legal services to Cabinet and the Government of Nunavut, and manages correction programs and community justice programs for Nunavummiut.

The Department ensures that the affairs of the Government are conducted in accordance with the law. The Department is also responsible for ensuring that all laws and regulations of Nunavut respect the Constitution of Canada and the Nunavut Act. The Department also provides administration for the Nunavut Court of Justice.

The Department promotes and protects a peaceful society through the administration of a justice system which respects the role of community members in maintaining harmony, and which adheres to the principles and values of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
